The Bottom Line:
I would highly recommend the Garmin to anyone who is looking for a GPS that won't cost them an arm and a leg.

This little device was a life saver for me. During the summer of 㤎 I took a job of installing security systems in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Being from a small town I wasnt sure if really felt comfortable traveling around such a densely populated city without some kind of aid. I am so happy that I purchased the i5. It certainly isnt the most high tech GPS on the market, but it certainly gets the job done.
-It knows where its going.-
When I got to Florida, my discomfort of driving around in the big city ceased. My i5 always knew where I was and where I was going. All I needed to do was type in an address and Boom! I was on my way. Even at times when I made a wrong turn, the i5 would automatically reroute and I would be back on track with no real hassle.
-Its not that expensive.-
Among its counter parts its the least expensive. I bought mine when prices ranged from $300 and up. But now you can go on to Amazon.com or Ebay.com and find as cheap as $100. For a price like this, and for a good company like Garmin, you just cant go wrong.
-Sure it has a few quarks -
Just like any other kind of machinery, sometimes there are a few bothersome quarks that you begin to recognize the second they happen. With the i5, it seems sometimes it doesnt seem to always think straight. But this is quite seldom and doesnt happen to frequently to make it trouble some. For instance, some times youll be driving and the Garmin will think you took a wrong turn when you didnt. This usually occurs while driving down the freeway. All you do is continue driving and it will correct itself.
The real disadvantage to this device is the amount of time it sometimes takes to acquire a satellite signal. Sometimes it can take up to more than ten minutes, but then if you keep it plugged in and change the batteries regularly, you should have no real problems.
- .but its so easy to use.-
This thing almost looks like one of those little inexpensive hand held games that you would buy for your five year old. Its probably easier to function to. You have three buttons: the power button, a go back button, and a convenient click-to-enter scroll wheel that makes maneuvering your way through menus and locations a cinch.
It comes with:
Suction cup windshield mounting bracket and dashboard disc, making it easy to place your garmin in the most preferred position to view your i5 while driving.
Preloaded City Navigator for all of North America.
A USB interface cable for future map updates.
12 volt adapter cable. Of course its not going to work with out power.
If you travel and are sick of shuffling through map page after page, I would highly recommend this device.
Fantastic prices with ease & comfort of Amazon.com!
