I prefer the c340 for navigation functions.
Pros:
Track Logging works well, satellite tracking is excellent
Cons:
Annoying limitations to input the route

If you want just navigation, consider the c340.

I bought this to replace a StreetPilot c340, because I required a Track Logging function with over 3000 points. With it I got bluetooth handsfree connection for cellphone, and an MP3 player, which I do not use.
As a navigation system it worked as well as the c340, which is excellent, so I'm happy with its basic operation. However the screen is not as bright - not as bad as the TomTom, but this is a common problem with touch-screens. However the c340 was very bright even with touch-screen - how did they do that?
When planning the route, the 2820 has two annoying problems. First, it has no internal battery, so I must enter the destination while I'm in the car. Even a small 10-minute battery would help here.
Furthermore, if I'm underneath a roof, I can't set a route with a waypoint because it can't calculate an initial route until it can find the satellites. When I tried this today, its current remembered position was at the entrance of the garage, so it had the current position correct - it just wouldn't calculate a route. It never asked, "are you currently indoors" as the c340 did.
I can't evaluate the bluetooth nor the MP3 nor the SM connection, as I haven't yet used them.
The track logging feature works well, but I can't yet get output in NMEA standard format, which I would like.
