Super accurate device - But lousy TOPO map. Ouch$$!

Date of Review:  Jul 31, 2006
The Bottom Line: Great all-around choice for hiking, boating, driving, etc. Super accurate and tracks very well in heavy cover and moving vehicles. Topo map is not wonderful. You'll need City software too.
Review: Ouch. I just plunked down $550 for my new Garmin GPS receiver and the North America Topographical Map CDROM.
And I'm not done yet. I likely will have to purchase the Inland Lakes, Bluechart Atlantic, and a North America City map.

Once was lost, but now am found...

Date of Review:  Jul 9, 2009
The Bottom Line: The Garmin GPSMAP 76SCX does what it advertises, and does it well.
Review: I have always used Garmin products both on the road and on the water. Sadly after my boat was stolen last year I need to buy a quick replacement Marine GPS to substitute for the onboard GPSMAP 3010C that was of course stolen with it. Needing...

Capable, Reliable and Handy GPS

Date of Review:  Mar 8, 2007
The Bottom Line: Get 76CSx if you want a GPS that can go with you in multiple cars and also on bike trails and treks.
Review: I was researching the market for quite some time (1.5 yrs) to get a GPS that would meet all of my needs which were:
1. Compact enough to carry on treks
2. Powerful enough to catch signal in urban or actual jungle
3. Memory expansion...

Great GPS for work

Date of Review:  Dec 20, 2008
The Bottom Line: If you need something for just hiking, look at the Etrex models/
Review: I work as a Park Ranger in one of our mountain Parks. I m involved in creating fuel breaks so when the next big fire hits our area, our parks will be somewhat safer.
I have the older 76 model, but noticed the extra features that the 76CSX has...

Super Accurate and fast lock-on

Date of Review:  Apr 29, 2007
The Bottom Line: Buy, Buy, Buy!!!!
Review: I just upgraded from an eTrex Legend. My wife got me this for my b-day. This thing is freaking awesome! There is a slight learning curve but for the most part once you know a garmin you can get through it. The day I got it I just had to take it on...

Wow, really an impressive GPS

Date of Review:  Jun 9, 2007
The Bottom Line: I've recommended this to friends, family and co-workers. Everyone loves the 76CSx once they try it.
Review: This is about the 5th or 6th GPS that I've owned. I use the GPS for driving instructions, Geocaching, traveling and hiking / outdoor activities.

The 76 CSx is an upgrade from the 76 CS. The primary documented upgrade from the CS to the CSx...

Great display and features but, where did all the mapping detail go?

Date of Review:  Jul 17, 2007
The Bottom Line: I recommend this GPS. Be prepared to purchase some additional software if your mapping requirements exceed interstates and major highways.
Review: This is my second Garmin. The first one I wore out was an eTrex Legend. The screen was starting to go out on it after a few thousand miles of use and abuse, so I was eager to replace it with a new color model.

The 76CSx has some really...

Excellent Choice for a GPS Unit

Date of Review:  Aug 25, 2006
The Bottom Line: This unit is an excellent choice in handheld GPS's.
Review: This is my second Garmin unit. My first died after about 5 years of heavy use.

I researched quite heavily, looked at different manufacturers but kept coming back to Garmin. Looked at a couple different Garmins and settled on this one. No...

Garmin GPSmap 76CSx

Date of Review:  Mar 4, 2009
Review: I have used this sparingly for the last two years. I find its use in boating in the island of the Carribean to be very good. It is very accurate.

My only complaint is the extra cost of the maps and the fact that routing on the provided...
