Garmin Forerunner 305 Handheld GPS Receiver

I purchased the Forerunner 305 as a replacement for the eTrex, Forerunner 101 and 301, which fell apart from heavy use. I routinely use it during my nightly commute. I use the Auto Lap feature regularly, the Heart Rate Monitor often, and often burn the data to a CD. The battery life is adequate for most of my bike rides, but too short for some of my longest rides, such as to Hollister, Oakland, Santa Cruz, and San Francisco. When "List All" is selected, at the bottom of the display shows distance and direction. The direction is in cardinals, no degrees.
