Great blend of function and affordability

by   sashazur2 ,  Oct 29, 2006
Pros: Affordable, small, accurate, easy to use.
Cons: Slow searching for addresses, in city traffic sometimes turn instructions are a little late.
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this for anyone who needs a very portable in-car navigation system. It delivers all the basic features, works well, and it's compact and simple to use.
Review: Why I got it I purchased this before heading off on a 10-day driving vacation; I selected this particular model after reading a lot of good reviews and seeing that I could get it for less than $300. What's in the box In the box is ...

Tiny genius knows it all

by   gottum_m ,  Apr 19, 2006
Pros: User interface, Small size, WAAS, Voice prompts, Auto reroute, POI
Cons: Very few - No touch screen, Search speed
The Bottom Line: I would recommend Garmin i3 to anybody who is looking for more than a basic GPS for under $300.00
Review: Have been looking for a GPS for a long time, not because I miss exits too often, but only to pile up on my gadgets. Had been monitoring the technology advancements and prices on these units for years and finally locked my choice on Garmin i3 when I found ...

A GPS that fits your budget and your pocket!

by   sheiertchr ,  Feb 9, 2006
Pros: Small, light, accurate, easy to use. Economical to buy.
Cons: Small screen, no touch screen.
The Bottom Line: I would definitely recommend buying this unit (possibly one for each of your cars) to ensure you do not get lost!
Review: The Garmin StreetPilot i3 is one of three in this mini-series by the respected GPS manufacturer. It is very similar to both the i2 and the i5. The i2 is a, less expensive, monochromatic version. The i5 is a, more expensive, version with full U.S. ...

Get lost mapquest

by   randulak ,  Nov 22, 2006
Pros: Affordable and efficient
Cons: Suction cup mount
The Bottom Line: A great little GPS. It will get you where you want to go.
Review: I'm in sales. I always dreaded downloading to my PDA (or printing out)driving instructions to my appointments from the likes of Mapquest. In doing so I drove the accident possiblity percentages sharply higher trying to keep one eye on the road and the ...

No frills but good bang for the buck

by   melkel2000 ,  Jul 26, 2006
Pros: Low price, high usability, high accuracy, high portability.
Cons: Time to find satellites or POIs can be relatively high. No POIs shown on map.
The Bottom Line: Very good value and very useful tool!
Review: I wanted a GPS for the car but I think they are a bit overpriced. This one popped up and the ONLY reason that I even looked at it was the price. I have to say that I didn't think I'd find this unit very usable. I was worried about the screen size. I ...

Garmin- a great GPS, with a few small problems

by   Robinis ,  Jan 22, 2007
Pros: Voice prompts. Points of interest. Never get lost. Inexpensive for what you get.
Cons: Scroll is annoying. Screen is small. Takes a long time to aquire signal sometimes.
The Bottom Line: If you just want to take a few trips, this is excellent, If you travel for a living get the more expensive version of Garmin GPS.
Review: Have you ever gotten in the car and had the urge to ‘just drive’? Have you ever been low on gas in an unfamiliar part of town? Do you know someone with a ‘bad sense of direction’? Than a GPS system might just be for you. I bought this GPS to take on ...

How not to get lost... Well... most of the time!

by   srmoll ,  Dec 12, 2005
Pros: It is small, with clear screen and good loud clear voice instructions.
Cons: The possibility that keeping maps up to date could be difficult and/or expensive.
The Bottom Line: I can recommend this unit on price alone. It is so much cheaper than any other unit I have looked at.
Review: I have only once before used a GPS navigation system, and that was a simple "turn left here, turn right here" system in a Toyota. That particular system took me, rather imaginatively through a multi-storey car-park, whilst trying to get me to a hotel in ...

A Good Little GPS

by   eyoshimitsu ,  Mar 28, 2006
Pros: Voice prompting, 128MB for maps, DVD Maps, easily downloadable waypoints, and data importing. Autodimming
Cons: Smallish screen size, satellite acquistion time might be long. Can't download customizable routes.
The Bottom Line: Few units in this price range will include voice prompting and 128mb map/data capacity. Some might not like the small screen, I prefer it.
Review: The Garmin StreetPilot i3 is a color version of the i2. This unit features Voice Prompting. I feel that this is a must have. While some units may have "alerts" having actual voice prompting gives you a better idea of what's ahead and not have to look at ...

Navigates well, but was an ordeal to get going

by   wresnick ,  Jan 11, 2006
Pros: Compact, portable, nice layout, inexpensive, navigates well.
Cons: Website not helpful, long hold times, long wait for email support, mixed results with landmarks.
The Bottom Line: If you're willing to work out inital issues on your own, and want an affordable unit, this may be for you. Make sure it's returnable in case of problems.
Review: The Garmin i3 is a small, compact unit, that does a very good job of navigating while on roads. This unit has been an adventure since I got it, and the setup process has been the biggest obstacle toward what is otherwise an excellent unit for its ...

Pros: Affordable, easy to use, accurate and compact. Well worth the money and convenient.
Cons: No touch screen and a little slow on satellite download.
The Bottom Line: Its ease of use, compact style and accuracy make it a great value. Has many of the same features as the more expensive models.
Review: My husband purchased the Garmin i3 for me as a Christmas present and I adore it. I am one that normally gets lost coming out of the driveway and I do a lot of driving so when I received this gift I immediately opened it. Its easy to use right out of ...
