Navigation for drivers or walkers (or boaters)

Sometimes great things come in small packages. Small enough to keep in a shirt pocket, yet crammed with names and addresses of retail stores, restaurants, shops, hotels and much more -- all at a fraction of the price of dealer installed DVD-based navigation systems.

I do recommend the optional "friction" mount, which just sets on the dash but doesn't move much underway. It reduces the unsightly cord hanging from the suction-cup mount, and it's easier to toss in a glove box or under the seat for security, or to easily move from car to car.

Note that only speaker is part of the 12v cigarette lighter power adapter, which has at least one major downside: You won't get turn-by-turn voice guidance unless it's plugged in (even though battery life lasts for many hours).

Downloading software coverage regions is easy and intuitive. While it'd be great to have more memory available, it will hold several states' worth and the coverage areas can be easily changed in advance of trips.

Accuracy is quite good. If you make a wrong turn, it very quickly re-routes on the fly. I've had a couple of events where it didn't take me the "best" way or hadn't been updated to reflect relatively new road construction. But, all-in-all, I've been incredibly pleased with the performance, especially in value versus bigger portable or dealer-installed DVD units.
