Pros: It has more features than I can use
Cons: The maps get a little cluttered in urban areas
The Bottom Line: IF YOU WANT A LIGHTWEIGHT ACCURATE GPS THAT CAN DOWNLOAD MAPS AT AN AFFORDABLE PRICE GET IT
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: Until I got this unit I had owned a Magellan. It was a second generation generic GPS.
At the time it was a pretty advanced unit (1996). It was finally time to upgrade and the options of the newer GPS units took a bit of education. I... |

Pros: Small, light, feature rich
Cons: Small display, joystick control can be twitchy, slow to acquire, no external antenna option
The Bottom Line: Small, light, great for the hiker or motorcyclist where size and weight are limiting factors. If automotive use required, there are better choices.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: I bought this as my first GPS unit. My father owns a StreetPilot, which is MUCH larger, but has an easier (in my mind) user interface and larger display.
The Legend is ultra-small, and because of that it's missing some of the more common... |

Pros: Compact size, great features, included data cable.
Cons: Seems to loose signal easily, no alerts, not much memory
The Bottom Line: All the basic features and a data cable, inexpensive, but keeps up with the big boys.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: I was looking for a handheld GPSr primarily for geocaching and decided on the eTrex Legend mainly because it was packaged with a data cable.
What you get: A serial data cable: a must if you're going to geocache. You'll need to... |

Pros: Amazing array of features. Small, light, and durable. Superb for road trips and flying.
Cons: Only Garmin brand software can be used to load maps.
The Bottom Line: Outstanding device! If it had expandable memory, it would be the only GPS unit you'd ever need.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: I recently upgraded from a plain-vanilla Etrex because I wanted something that had mapping features. What an amazing device!
This unit is incredibly useful whether you use it for hiking, driving or flying. I've used it for all three... |

Pros: Small, good resolution, WAAS capable
Cons: None that I've noticed as of this writing
The Bottom Line: Easy-to-use, highly recommended. It's getting four stars simply because it's the only GPS unit I've used. I doubt for the money there are many more better than this.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: With much trepidation, I finally jumped into the GPS realm with this unit. I had many fears of hard-to-follow instructions and disappointing results. To my pleasant surprise, Garmin came through with flying colors with the eTrex Legend.

Pros: Neat and useful features!
Cons: Can be a little costly.
The Bottom Line: Give it a try. Garmin is a leading manufacturer in GPS products, and this gives you a good amount of bang for your buck!
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: Okay, okay, so knowing exactly where you are can be useful, but you don't need a GPS (most of the time) to get your general location.
If you do much traveling at all, you may find this to be a very useful tool. This unit contains, among... |

Pros: Rugged, dependable, accurate, long lasting
Cons: Does not work well with rechargeable batteries, default maps are not that detailed.

Review: I use the Legend primarily for geocaching but also for the occasional answer to the 'where am I' question that comes up so often on road trips.
The unit is very rugged having survived many falls onto wet, dry, smooth and rocky surfaces... |

Pros: Because of size, it was fairly cheap to mail back to garmin twice.
Cons: Unbelievably slow customer support. Doesn't work with mapsource cd.
The Bottom Line: Avoid buying any Garmin product. The customer support is slow slow slow.
This reviewer does not recommend this product.
Review: 3 months to downloaded some of the charts I need, and I had to mail it to Garmin twice to get even that much.
