Great cook-top, except for noise

Pros: strong BTU's, ample cooking space, beautiful contemporary design.

Cons: Humming sound and brass tarnish.

I too noticed the noise which is a very low grade hum. Most people probably wouldn't notice it. In fact I only noticed the noise after using the cook-top for a year. I decided I can live with the humming but what bothers me the most is how to restore the beautiful brass finish to the burners. I've tried polishing them but no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions on polishing it. So far I have only tried Brasso. Otherwise it is a fantastic cook-top which I would highly recommend to others.
