Product Review

The George Foreman GRV660 Toaster Oven

by   richwlms ,   Sep 16, 2007

Pros:  This product lasted as long as its warrantee and performed well during this time period.

Cons:  This product is not supported by its manufacturer beyond its warrantee in any way whatsoever.

The Bottom Line:  While this product meets its minimum requirement by lasting about a year, the manufacturer does not support the product with spare parts or repair parts after the warrantee period expires.

Overall Rating: 1/5 stars

Author's Review

This product lasted only as long as its warrantee period when its upper heating elements burned out. It was reliable in every day use for one year as advertised. The manufacturer (Salton) does not support this product with replacement parts and only supports products under warrantee with complete product replacements. This means if yours fails after your warrantee period expires you must buy a new one and throw the old one away, even if it is a simple part like a heating element, there is no recourse for you other than to dispose of the offending appliance and purchase a complete new unit. I have never heard of, less owned, a kitchen appliance which could not be repaired. I have personally repaired toaster oven heating elements, stove heating elements, dishwasher parts, sink mascerator parts and just about everyone has had their refrigerator repaired at one time or another. In this day and age with the current stresses our culture is putting on the environment, it is unconscientious to market an appliance which is never meant to be repaired but only to be thrown away. There is no AWAY! I think if George knew about this he would flip and if he does know about this he should be ashamed.
