The Bottom Line: Even if you are on a budget...AVOID THIS CAM. Save for a better cam.
I bought this camera a year ago. Took it to Colombia and it shot DECENT quality. Low light was absolutely horrible. But you get what you pay for. While the camera was working it was OK. Just used to film little stuff...not like I was making a movie or anything. But after I came from Colombia the camera locked up. Said "Camera in Safemode." It wont record or anything....the only thing it will do is play tapes and will NOT rewind. I have to use my power drill to rewind the MiniDVs and then play them in the camera....I think something is wrong with the motor for rewind or something. I tried to contact JVC via the phone line....stupid automatic system keeps hanging up on me...never seem to bed able to reach a REAL person. Then I called an authorized JVC dealer. They were talking about $200 to fix this problem. YEAH RIGHT...only paid about $200 for the camera...not even worth it. I also looked this problem up on the internet and LOTS of people have the same problem with "safemode" on their cameras and actually found that there was a class action suit against JVC for this....I would AVOID THIS JVC product.
I'm really disappointed in JVC. I know the camera is cheap...BUT it should work at least. My father has a JVC SVHS VCR and that thing is HARDCORE!!! Very disappointing camera....STAY AWAY......get a panasonic or sony. This is what I get though..I was on a budget and bought a cheap cam......but like I said..It should at least function....
