Disappointing and faulty
Date of Review: Aug 13, 2007
The Bottom Line: Buy your players in an electronics store where the employees can give you an idea of what to buy. A drug store is a step above vending machine.
I was having an mp3 player emergency when I dashed into a Walgreen's to buy this player. It was $50, and I had to have an mp3 player right away so I could listen to my audiobooks and podcasts that week. I was very busy and I did not have time to go to Best Buy.
My criteria for purchasing an mp3 player is simple. It must have at least 1GB of storage, and it must play WMA-DRM files because I get audiobooks from http://Netlibrary.com. I also prefer that it not be bossy about what I use to synch it with.
Well, it has been totally unreliable on the WMA-DRM front. I have yet to be able to listen to all of an audiobook. The plain English turns to computer squeals and squawks after a few minutes. Sometimes it does it with my mp3s, but that is less bothersome. I would not recommend this player. There is no FM radio or voice recorder, so $50 was way too much.
It is also a USB storage device, but that does not matter to me. I have one a flash drive that I use for that purpose from time to time, so it's overkill in this product. I would much rather have had a voice recorder instead.
