Author's Review
Whenever we have a project, one of the easiest decisions today involves picking appliances. I am leaning more towards simplicity in the laundry appliances we choose to supply. In the past we opted for the more upscale washers and dryers and generally got negative feedback from our buyers, who were faced with replacing motherboards, sensors and a gaggle of other problems. Last year we started installing the simplest washers and while the buyers cast a wary eye initially, it has proven to be the best solution for everyone concerned.
One of GEs oldest and more reliable top load washers is their model WVSR1060A Top Load Washer. Six wash cycles, 2 electromechanical rotary controls, make this unit a simple, easy to operate washer that has stood the test of time.
Up Close
Whenever I look at some of the newer more prolific washers, you cannot be unimpressed with all the controls and features but I am left with the nagging question, What am I trying to accomplish here? I would prefer to put the extra cash I can save from unnecessary building and appliance expenses into granite counter tops or another high return feature. The General Electric WVSR1060A Top Load Washer handles a large familys wash with a 3.2 cu. ft. load capacity with ease and grace.
The two rotary mechanical control array consists of the following:
Load Size This control allows you to effectively fill the necessary water level to effectively run through a wash cycle, saving detergent, water and in the long run, your plumbing. In addition you can choose from Small Large and Super to accommodate all your washing needs.
Cycles The WVSR1060A gives you the option of selecting three cycles including White, Color and Dark Colors with two Soil cycles for each, including Lightly Soiled & Heavily Soiled, which dictate the agitation required for an effective wash cycle.
The simplicity is much like what you would expect from your mothers washing machine. If you need to get an extra spin cycle, you have to manually turn the cycle knob around to your cycle of choice to the spin detent; really, how hard is that?
The WVSR1060A has evolved from a four control unit to the current generation two control model. It has been a best seller for GEfor years, because it has proven itself to be a solid performer. The unit is as quiet as models costing hundreds more. Their Quiet By Design technology is perhaps more fanfare than substance.
Results speak for themselves and the General Electric WVSR1060A Top Load Washer does precisely what you expect - it washes clothes beautifully! Sure there are flashier ways to go about this most mundane of tasks, but when it comes right down to it, many of the controls on todays washers are a mere memory after a few wash cycles, with many consumers opting for one or two cycles thereafter. I dont want to minimize the benefits of a full featured washer; if you use and appreciate them, thats great. The GE WVSR1060A Top Load Washer offers the consumer no nonsense, right to the point laundry day solution. For a $319 msrp. washer, this one is a winner.
