I went several years without the luxury of my own washer and dryer, mostly because we don't have hookups and I didn't want to pay to have them put into someone elses house since we rent. This past summer my Grandmother offered me her washer and dryer, which I promptly traded to my inlaws for this washer/dryer combo that they couldn't use because of landlord problems. So now we were both happy and had washers and dryers we could use.
This washer/dryer combo comes with its own stand and its on wheels, its very simple to use, once its set up. My husband had it set up within minutes and checked out all the hoses to make sure they were okay before I tried it out, since it had been about 2 years since it had been used. The washer hooks up to my kitchen sink, I was lucky since it fit, I thought I would have to go out and buy an adaptor, but luck was on my side that day and it snapped right into place. Once you turn on the water and plug the washer into a regular outlet, you're all set to go.
The washer is so simple to use, you turn a knob to select which type of load you're doing (delicates, regular, heavy duty, spin only or soak), select your temperature and select your load size. Then you push the On button, add your soap, etc and about a half hour later, your laundry is done. In the past 6 months that I've had this washer the only problem I had was water on the floor once, and it was probably because I'd overloaded it.
The dryer is a 110 amp, which means it takes a little longer to dry than the average home dryer, an average load takes about an hour and a half to dry. My average load consists of a pair of jeans, a few shirts, a few towels and some underwear. Its worth it to me to spend the extra time drying at home, rather than bringing it all to a laundromat. My electric bill has gone up $7.00 a month since getting this dryer and its well worth it.
The dryer has a lint filter inside, I clean it each time I dry a load, but I could get away with doing it every other load.
Both are very easy to keep clean, I simply wipe out the washer with a damp towel about once a week and do the same with the dryer. I spray the outside with windex and wipe it down with paper towels to keep it looking new.
I would recommend this washer/dryer combo to anyone who wants a washer and dryer, but has limited space. I didn't have to pay for it, but I almost wish I'd bought one several years ago, as in the long run, it pays for itself. I used to spend at least $25 a week at the laundromat and thats not including soap, bleach and softener. If I had bought this, for $900 it would have paid for itself in just 9 months.
