You may be like me and usually think of a washer/dryer combo as either fixture in a bachelor place or something the apartment manager will provide the tenant for an additional charge. And, like me you may have heard horror stories of clothes ruined by the extremely high drying temperatures or the too small washing machine drum.
Neither are true in the case of the GE Spacemaker unit my husband and I purchased when we moved into our new home. With limited space and funds, we selected the GE Spacemaker simply because it took up the least amount of room in our garage and fit into our price range.
We did pay to have it delivered and set up so I can't attest to how easily this is usually done, however, the serviceman connected it in minutes and it was up and running. And it has been running ever since.
One tough unit: A typical day usually involves at least three if not more loads of white, color and mixed; delicates and normal types of clothing. Although there aren't many of the bells and whistles you may find on other styles of washers and dryers, you don't need them. The washer temperature settings include hot, cold or warm. The water levels are low, medium, high and the type of clothing settings are delicate, regular or permanent press.
Dryer setting are delicate/low heat, auto dry/medium heat and timed dry/high heat. I'm not sure it could be any easier.
One clean machine: I noticed a dramatic difference in how white my white clothes come out with each load. I have heard in the past that it really pays to go on and purchase a new washer and dryer in that it not only cleans clothes better, but it is gentler and easier on them as well.
One easy machine to use: I've got it down pat as far as keeping this machine running at optimum speed. When one load of clothes is finished in the washer, I toss them into the dryer, set the adjustments and add a dryer sheet while the water is filling the barrel of the washer and I'm adding the detergent. I use powdered detergent and have't had any problems so far. In fact, I seem to be able to use less detergent these days.
One caution: You will need to check the lint trap every time you put a load in the dryer, especially with towels and sheets. Even when you clean the lint trap, you will occasionally find lint floating in the air when you open the dryer door as well as small amounts of lint on the clean clothes in the dryer.
