It melted everything for the 3rd time

We bought last years model 99 something (exact unit different numbers) and loved it! Super duper quiet great looks cleaned great! All good on Wisteria lane...or is it! It worked fine for 2 months then one day I come in and noticed whisps of smoke coming from the top of the dishwasher huh!

I opened the door to what my eye could see but everything plastic melted into some weird science project gone bad....very bad! I called GE and after about 45 min of pushing buttons and being put on hold I got to talk to a real live person!

I explained to the person on the phone what had happened they went straight and got the the parts shipped off and a tech was dispatched and came about a week later (too long for me but whatever) He replaced the CPU and the electronic touch pad all right with the world!

Couple months go but and it happened again.....WHAT!!!! The internal heater coil every time you close the door would turn it self back on and begin to try to dry the dishes. Very bad this time it melted everything inside including the dishwasher parts.

The tech came out and the dishwasher was replaced with the PDW9980NSS alls right with the world! Couple months go by and this one is doing the exact same thing total melt down! I called GE and now the claim is with their buy back team. Hopefully they will buy back the dishwasher and I will try another brand.

I do have to say the tech who came out was very good. The operator at the service center whom took the complaint (after I got thru the phone maze) was great.

If the dishwasher didn't like the plastic so much I would not have any problems with this unit. I would give it a 10 out of 10 except for the melting issue. The auto dispense of the soap worked great. It's a wonderful feature and I wish a lot of other manufacturers would put in their units. Super construction and just a nice piece of goods.

If GE can ever get this problem worked out I would not hesitate in recommending this dishwasher. But if you need to cook a steak medium well I have the unit for you!
