Have used better one than GE

Date of Review: Aug 21, 2002

The Bottom Line:  If you want a TRUE dishwasher, get a Maytag.. This GE dishwasher just not for a family who cooks, bake, tall plates....
We just brought a new house last month, and the home came with all GE Appliances in it. We have this model dishwasher, and We thought well. maybe they gotten better.. So after we use this dishwasher for a few weeks, I must say, It's not a TRUE dishwasher. We do alot of cooking and baking and we have to pre-scrub our cookware. In our last home we had a Maytag 7100, and that SCRUB for us!

I do like the new door style, it really blend in the open kitchen we have, and they say the new door style is allow us to have the "Extra Tall Tub(What tall tub?) For tall dishes.. Well, Like I said earlier we do alot of baking.. I only can put one tall pan in it.. not 3 of them with out the arm "Banging" on it. We also have the larg dinner plates and again, we have to keep it on the left side of the machine(the middle arm tilts somewhat)so the middle arm won't chip our plates.

This dishwasher has 3 wash arm.. large one on the bottom, large on in the middle, and small one on top. The small arm on top is not doing a very good job. The large arm we had on our old maytag did it's job! I counted the "water hole" on this dishwasher, and I came up with 26 of them.. Maytag has 60 jets! (tell me who scrubs?) The middle arm can be a "Banging" pain on the ear! I can no longer run my baking sheets in this dishwasher liked I did on my old Maytag.

The "Towerless" wash system... I don't like that ideal.. You really don't gain alot of extra room in it! I am unable to remove the top rack to wash my really big cookie sheets on the holidays.. Maytag, I could do that.. Also I am not able to stand my bowls on it's side like I did in my old Maytag. I have to set the bowls down and that takes up space.

"100% Triple Water Filtration w/ExtraFine? Filter" That seems to do an ok job, but where's the 3rd? Maytag has it under the cover of the wash arm that protects it

The "Grid" filter is exposed under the lower wash arm, I had to reach in there a couple of times to clean larger itmes that it didn't take(Wash) out!

I am pretty disapointed with this dishwasher.. It's not "We bring good things to life" for us.. We have to pre scrub our dishes, and rise some of it off.. I can't wash my cookie sheets.. have to becarefull putting in big plates...

I am going to put this dishwasher out on the street when Maytag comes out with thier new 3 rack dishwasher in Sept.

----Update----
8-22
I ran a load of dishes in my dishwasher this morning, and I happend to be missing a knife, sure enough, it fell or threw out of the basket, and landed on the fine fitler under the wash arm:-( So, the filter is half torn.. I'll still keep this dishwasher till the new Maytags come out.

I also looked under the dishwasher closer, I see it has two motor! wow. one more thing to worry about going out on you. Looks like the extra smaller motor is used to pump water out or used for moving water to top of the dishwasher?
