Product Review

Stay Away from GE Monogram

by   markmemsc ,   Jul 15, 2008

Pros:  The User interface is intuitive

Cons:  Not Consumer Ready. Severe reliability problems.

The Bottom Line:  Stay Away unless you're lonely and like meeting a lot of appliance technicians.

Overall Rating: 1/5 stars

Author's Review

We have 2 of the Monogram Convection / MW Ovens in both our principal residence and in our summer cottage we use mostly on weekends. Originally, we had purchased the product because it offered a door that opens from top down (hinged at the bottom) for undercounter placement.

In both cases, there were severe reliability problems. The one in our principal residence has had the magnatron replaced 4 times in 2 years. On the third replacement, GE replaced the entire unit. And the replacement (new) unit broke down again (total 4 times). The unit in our summer home had the magnatron replaced once in 1 year with very light use. These products are not consumer ready. If I had more time on my hands, I would seriously consider a law suit to recoup time wasted in running after the repeated problem. I am now in the process of considering a replacement unit and will simply throw away the Monogram product.

BTW - we also have a GE Monogram fridge that had to be replaced after 3 months of use. The water supply for the ice maker got stuck in the "on" position and filled my freezer with water / ice!

Stay away from GE Monogram.
