GE is JUNK
Date of Review: May 14, 2007
The Bottom Line: I don't know if they still make this model but I am so against ever buying GE again.
I bought the JVM 2070 in 2004 when doing a re-model. It didn't get installed right away so it sat in the box in the house until the kitchen was ready for it to be installed. Out of the box the black plastic frame that holds the vent louver on was broken. GE sent one out on warranty. I figure it sat in the box for about Three months. It worked fine for about six months or so then occasionally the touch pad would stop working. If you unplugged-plugged then plugged it back in it would work again. This went on sporadically for about 3 or 4 months or so. Just about the time the warranty went up the key pad stopped working completely. I bought one for about $500.00 and installed it my self.
Just recently the black plastic frame broke again and the louver door fell off. I think they just made it too thin and it can't handle the force of the springs opening the louver. So I ordered one of those for about $60.00 and installed it.
The same day I put that on I go to use the micro and choose the sensor cook option and it starts then stops and a loud beeping starts and a message comes up on the touch screen saying that the sensor is not working properly. I wonder how much the sensor is going to cost me?!?!? This is the one time that I wish I had bought the extended warranty plan!
My last over the range micro was a Sharp and lasted me for seven years and didn't cost nearly as much as the GE Profile, even before you count the money I have spent on repair parts.
