GE Profile™ 30" Slide-In Electric Range JS968SKSS

Three months ago we purchased the GE Profile™ 30" Slide-In Electric Range JS968SKSS and have experienced a lesson in don't judge a book by its pricey cover (only in reverse). The range has a nice cover, stainless steel slide in range with a nice glass cook-top. We were attracted by the clean style and features. Problem is many features don't work or don't work well.

First the triple burner, small, medium and large goes on and off when cooking at high temp. Ten seconds on and ten seconds off. The oven temperature probe isn't even close to the correct temp (it is off by 35 plus degrees and not even consistent). The oven takes a long-time to preheat and the oven light seems to be haunted.

Our call to customer service was equally disappointing. Poor English, and I mean poor English. After describing our cumulative problems we were told that they would send parts and instructions for us to repair our defective range. When I tried to explain, that we are not appliance repair professionals and that we were not comfortable taking apart the range top to replace a burner, I was told it would come with good instructions. Despite a promise of FedEx delivery we still have not received our parts and instructions a week and a half later.

We’re not too picky, but this range has been a loser.
