Warning! A Dangerous Product!

I purchased the GE JES1855 because I wanted a large microwave and this was one of the biggest at the store. It features an easy to use control panel and a spacious easy to clean interior.

However, all that means nothing when you consider that this product has serious safety issues that GE seems unwilling to resolve.

Twice I have had the microwave come on all by itself at night. The first time I was in another part of the house and thought a smoke alarm was sounding. The second time it woke me from sleep. I awoke just as the machine was going off and the last beep sounded.

I have not yet made my call to GE but my expectations are not high as on another product review website, a consumer told of getting the "it's after the warranty period, you'll have to pay to fix it" run around.

This microwave, after only a few months of use, also developed a scratch on the bottom, where the turntable rollers move. Although this is only acting as a cosmetic problem now, I wonder if it will affect performance in the future, such as the exposed metal body reacting with the microwaves.

This is the third time I have had poor durability and performance issues with GE products. In short, I will no longer welcome GE into my home. My family's safety just isn't worth taking a risk.
