Author's Review
My experience with this product has been nothing but a nightmare. I brought this frig from Home Depot in October 2003, and 2 days later it start making noises. I put in many service calls to GE but their technician just explained that the noise is typical for new refrigerator of this size & is considered normal. However, they did try to reduce the noise by tying things at the back or replacing parts. But the problem got worst and the noise has became so unbearable (I can hear it from a floor up).
After talking to so many people and had few more service calls, one technician finally admitted that the noise is much louder than they normally see but even so, he told me not to have high hopes that GE will replace it. He said GE would do anything to avoid replacing it. Sound ridiculous? I thought so at first but soon learned that it is true.
Here's what I've learned: GE will not replace any defected (lemon)product, they only fix it for you. And if it's a problem that cannot be fixed, they just keep on telling you that it's normal. Nobody in GE wants to replace it for you since it will be on their department's budget.

Home Depot finally replaced the frig for me by paying for another one out of their own pocket. And by the way, the new one still makes the same noise but it's much more silent & acceptable. So this proves that the first one I got is a detected one.
So if you still considering buying this frig then good luck to you! Hope you won't get a lemon like mine and let's hope it will work perfectly for the next 10 years so you don't have to make any service call.
