General Electric Monogram® ZBD0710NSS 24 in. Built-in Dishwasher

We purchased the GE Monogram Dishwasher (Model No. ZBD0710NSS) August 07. We haven't had great luck with GE products in our home (all either Profiles or Monogram series) however liked the look of this particular Stainless Steel model and thought we would give it a shot. We had to replace the handle with in the first couple months of purchase which wasn't a big deal. It is quite and I find it cleans the dishes well. Just recentley however, the heating unit malfunctioned and melted pretty much everything in the dishwasher. Thank goodness we were awake when the unit overheated. We typically set it on delay just before we go to bed. GE came out immediately, however didn't have the 25 +parts to fix on the spot (obviously). To avoid a fire, the GE repairman even suggested we turn off the breakers until the parts come in, which will take two weeks. A family of six w/out a dishwasher for two weeks won't be fun. I've written to GE to ask them to reconsider and just replace the entire unit, rather than piece it all back together. Fortunately we have a service contract so it's not costing us anything. Depending on how they respond will determine if we will ever buy another GE product again. I'm searching on-line to see if anyone else has experienced the same problem.
