Beware the hot/cold water hoses

The washer was delivered Dec 31, 2008 (Today Jan 3, 2009).  So far the washing performance is fine,  but it is still early to make a final judgement.

Issue:  I came home to find water on the floor on Wed Dec 31 after 3 washes (floor is tile on cement slab).   Water was mopped.  The next day (Jan 1)  there was much more water on the floor and it had creeped to the carpeted room next door.  I climbed on top of the washer and looked behind and on the floor ... lots more water was visible.  It hadn't been used in over 12 hours.  I then noticed that the BRAND NEW HOT WATER HOSE was leaking at a slow/steady dribble.  I turned off the water connectors,  water stopped.

The appliance store, returned on Fri Jan 2 with the not-so-old hoses from the dead washer.  Hooked them up ... no leaks.   These hoses are less than 5 years old.  I had the guys use teflon tape when hooking them to the washer.  I was concerned because the washer hookups  appear to be plastic.

I would recommend purchasing a 'good quality' pair of hoses instead of relying on the new hoses provided by GE.
