Breaks at least once a month.

My landlord replaced our old washer (really old washer,and now I wish we would have just repaired it) with this GE model. We have had it now for about 5 months and it has been broken about 4 months of that.

When it spins, it spins uncontrollably and the washer ends up in the middle of the room! We called Sears (where our landlord bought it) and they told us we were loading the clothes to one side. Of course, we have tried loading the clothes as evenly as humanly possible but no matter what we do, when it gets to the spin cycle it will begin to spin uncontrollably. I've taken to strategically placing wet socks just so that we can get a decent spin cycle.

Inevitably, the uncontrollable spin will cause the engine to break and then it won't spin at all. Only then will Sears come out to repair it - thank God for the warranty. Once they install the new engine (which has to be ordered and always takes two weeks), it is back to the same old placing wet socks trick until the engine breaks again.

Fortunately for us, Sears says that they will stop repairing the machine and just give us a new one(and hopefully different model) once it breaks down 4 times. Well, the engine has been replaced three times already, and laundry day is tomorrow. So I'll be calling them to replace my machine.
