General Electric 25881 5.8 GHz Twin 1-Line Corded / Cordless Phone

I purchased this phone new at Home Depot about 4 months ago, and sadly, I wasted $70. Other than it's appearance, this phone has absolutely no redeeming qualities...and as you can see by the other reviews, this isn't a fluke. If you have recently purchased this phone system, save your receipt, box it up, and take it back to the store for a refund. It WILL fail...guaranteed.

1. Sound quality is circa-1950. When I call from my cellphone to home, my family sounds as if they talking to me through a pillow. Asking them to continually repeat themselves is aggravating, and inexcusable nowadays. Terrible quality GE!

2. After four months, the phones will no longer hold a charge for longer than about a day and half, EVEN WHEN NOT IN USE. Completely useless battery life.

3. The LCD displays on the handsets are nearly unreadable. You have to hold the phone at a peculiar angle to see it, and I often find myself walking across the room to read the caller ID on the base unit.

4. The handsets will inexplicably shut off in the middle of call, even when the battery is charged.

5. Like to reset your greetings periodically? Keep your user's manual near the base unit then...the controls to reset the greeting are not at all intuitive, and you'll need the manual to guide you through the process.
