This Digital Answering Machine has a VERY restricted out-going message length. The packaging is worded to disguise this limitation by stating the combined in-coming and out-going message time is 30 minutes. Wrong - the maximum length of outgoing message is approximately 25.5 seconds (the literature says 30 seconds but it is less - besides, the literature is hidden in the package and buried inside the booklet where you won't find it until too late).
If you want to leave a reasonable length of announcement, such as your business address or hours of operation, this is NOT the machine for you. The length of outgoing message cannot be increased. Shame on you, GE!
Furthermore, GE has not yet learned that a separate transformer is not acceptable practice any more. Americans have enough stray and missing transformers. If the machine requires a different voltage, the power supply should be built into the chassis with a regular 110V power cord. It is strange that an otherwise reputable company still uses the separate transformer system at all.
The quality of recording is poor to indecipherable. The built-in announcement is quite clear so the machine is capable of good sound. But GE appears to have cut corners where they should not have. Answering machines are a mature product and consumers expect that ALL problems have been ironed out by now. This GE unit falls far short of that standard.
It bears repeating that GE does one thing right - they have moved back to the one-button per function controls that never should have been changed in the first place. (Multifunction buttons should be outlawed)
