Have gone thru 9 defective units still can't get it a functioning unit!!!

This is really a cool design and i would LOVE to have one. But each one that i have purchased, i have had to return to vendor. The units are defective.

The problem is that the base unit does not recognize the back up battery. Thus, each time the phone rings it "shorts" and does a soft reset. All the information entered goes away (since it thinks there is no back up battery). I have called GE/Thompson tech support (Off shore== of course) and they are no help. After going thru 9 of these units. 3 i actually took home, 6 we tested at the store before i bought it.. ALL defective.

The off shore people wanted me to send my unit to some blind mail box in Texas, with no local number to speak to a human being about my issue. These off shored tech people in their broken English indicated that it would take 10-12 weeks to get a replacement unit... . screw that.. i'm taking back for my $$

GE-Thompson should be ashamed to create such a defective product. More importantly, they should be ashamed that to have a new item replaced would take 10-12 weeks. There is no--- not ONE customer contact number via any of the GE web sites that does not take you to some non-english speaking tech service person. They offer NO help. They do not understand the product, and if you can read the owner manual, there is NO need for you to call them. That is all they can do. There is NO 2nd, 3rd level support, their only suggestion was to send the unit to some blind mail box in Texas that would have a 10-12 week turn around time. Heck, you can almost build a house in that time!!!
