Author's Review
In these times of musical flaky-ness and sell outs, Jimmy EW has stayed consistent with their alternative rock style and put forth yet another solid album. This is one of those albums that can be played from start to finish, repeatedly. While the album features two hit singles "Work" and "Pain", the "B-side" songs are what make the album incredible. Each song delivers catchy melodies, intricate rhythms, and great harmonies that are all characteristic and unique to Jimmy Eat World's style. The only song I did not enjoy was "Drugs or Me", which was too slow and uninteresting for sober listening (probably hence the name). Overall, Futures is still a dynamic album, with songs that will pump you up or chill you out. As a final note, Jimmy Eat World is NOT emo, they rock too hard on their fast songs to be anything close to Dashboard Confessional, Simple Plan, and the like. This is definitely an album worth having, and one that I will listening to over and over again for years to come.
