Jimmy Eat World look to the futures with masterpiece of solid gold (Buried Treasure Write-Off)

by   blackstar40 ,  Dec 18, 2005
Pros: It's painted with naught but radiant luminescence, period
Cons: Maybe 'Night Drive' could qualify
The Bottom Line: 'Say hello to good times.'
Review: AUTHOR'S NOTE: This is an entry into my own 'Buried Treasure Write-Off,' which I would love for you to join if, in this bustling metropolis called Epinions, you have a spare moment of time. Details her e. And ...

One of the best albums I've heard in a long time

by   coalescence ,  Feb 8, 2005
Pros: Good production, decent guitar work, amazing atmosphere.
Cons: Using Liz Phair as a backing vocalist, and Night Drive.
The Bottom Line: Captures the melody of the early albums, and mixes it in with the hard rock urgency of "Bleed American". One of their finest studio efforts so far.
Review: I've been a fan of Jimmy Eat World ever since I bought their first album "Static Prevails", and I've always loved the way they change their style on every album, but still manage to keep every track different from anything they've ever recorded. Their ...

Hands Down: GREATEST ALBUM OF THE LAST FIVE YEARS

by   neomilhouse ,  Mar 25, 2005
Pros: None... Except that it's the Greatest Album of 2004, or maybe ALL-TIME.
Cons: Initially, Night Drive... But the damn thing grew on me, too. 11 songs.
The Bottom Line: With a dash of heart and originality not seen in Alt Rock since... ANYBODY... Jimmy Eat World's fourth album is their ROCK MASTERPIECE... Deserves to be heard.
Review: HYPOTHESIS: (See Title) FUTURES. As I so boldly stated in the title, it is my opinion that FUTURES is the Best Album of the last Five Years, and that's saying quite a bit. So before you guys lynch me for treason... (How dare I speak out against Creed, ...

If only all Futures were this bright

by   wahoo202 ,  Apr 27, 2005
Pros: Zach Lind, Some brilliance
Cons: A few weaker songs
The Bottom Line: If you're a fan of Pop/Punk/Emo at all, pick it up
Review: I first heard of JEW a few years ago through one of my friends, who handed me their Bleed American album. All I knew of them was they had a biggish hit in "The Middle", which I quite liked. To cut a long story short, I loved a few songs on the album, but ...

Futures Looks Bright

by   ry-guy ,  Sep 24, 2007
Pros: Great overall album fluidity
Cons: Singles are the best of what you'll get
The Bottom Line: Buy this album, it will make you think about everything in your life, past, present of Future
Review: Futures by Jimmy Eat World is a masterpiece and not just the singles. The fourth installment from Jimmy Eat World goes back to the Clarity days of the band in terms of lyrics, musical feel and style. The songs on the album are written purely for ...

Despite criticism, I believe Futures is one of the most solid albums in a while

by   trischo33 ,  Aug 17, 2005
Pros: Great guitar work. Good lyrics. Good mix of soft and hard songs, easy to like.
Cons: In one or two songs, lyrics are cheesy. Song "Polaris" is a bit boring.
The Bottom Line: I recommend this album to anyone who won't harshly dismiss because of the rare, afformentioned cheesy lyrics in one or two songs. Anyone who likes softer rock with some edge.
Review: It wasn't too long ago that I wasn't a Jimmy Eat World fan. Sure I had heard a couple of their songs, namely "The Middle" off the Bleed American album, but I hadn't really taken enough interest in them to buy one of their albums. That all changed when I ...

A Solid Album

by   georgetownhoya ,  Sep 14, 2005
Pros: Dynamic, consistent, alternative rock, a solid album
Cons: Track #7: Drugs or Me. Might need to be on drugs to enjoy it
Review: In these times of musical flaky-ness and sell outs, Jimmy EW has stayed consistent with their alternative rock style and put forth yet another solid album. This is one of those albums that can be played from start to finish, repeatedly. While the album ...

"You'll sit alone forever if you wait for the right time"

by   brendan2 ,  Apr 27, 2005
Pros: about half the album
Cons: the other half
The Bottom Line: 3.5, rounded up to 4, mostly cuz I've just seen JEW live. They rocked.
Review: Jimmy Eat World has always been a bit of a hit-or-miss band with me. For some reason, I have all of their albums (I was surprised too when I realised it), and I like Bleed American. It's not a classic, but there's just something about it. I think ...

Jimmy Eat World's Futures -- dark but ultimately fulfilling

by   punkrawka , top reviewer in Music at Epinions.com ,  Nov 6, 2004
Pros: Artistic growth; A good mix of rockers and ballads
Cons: A bit too short; A few flops
The Bottom Line: Takes some adjustment, but on the whole it's an improvement from the band's previous work
Review: Jimmy Eat World, after lurking around the indie scene, struck major pay-dirt with B leed American, an album predestined for mainstream success with its hooky anthems and feel-good lyrics in hits like "The ...

What Does The Future Hold For Jimmy Eat World On Futures?

by   themafiagod ,  Nov 4, 2004
Pros: Eclectic tunes; Jimmy Eat World advances musically
Cons: A few missteps
The Bottom Line: Perhaps the second best Jimmy Eat World album, Futures, is a solid listen. Keep an open mind and you'll learn to like it.
Review: Mesa, Arizona can lay the claim to fame for one of the more enigmatic groups in music today, Jimmy Eat World. A quartet that penned the smash-hit party song, "The Middle," Jimmy Eat World started their career off ten years ago. After swithing bass ...
