Amazing Deal for a double sided scanner

The Bottom Line: If you need to scan documents that are one AND two sided - don't want to pay a fortune - and want ease of use - BUY THIS MACHINE
We've had to transition to electronic storage of medical records due to space constraints. Several agencies and medical centers I have worked with have done so in the past and it always seemed to cost a fortune if they had reliable and efficient equipment - and I mean tens of thousands of dollars for the equipment.
The Fujitsu ScanSnap S510 is the answer that we decided on for our small clinic. We don't have money to throw at problems - hey we're private not a government agency!
This compact scanner is amazing in just about every dimension. Starting with size - its footprint on the desktop is incredibly small. Even when open it can have the output tray up so that the paper falls directly into a trashcan or bag or with it out to collect for transfer back into stack - either way it is smaller than most standard scanner/faxes at 11.2" x 6.2" x 6.2".
It scans both sides of the page at the same time - single pass! Then the software sorts through the file to align the pages, turn them, and eliminate any blanks. That's right it sees blank pages and just deletes them automatically! Comes with excellent software that has helped us organize and index the files with ease. It saves to PDF at the touch of a single button on the scanner too. Using the S510 could not be easier - this is one device that lives up to its name: ScanSnap!
We've scanned in over 100 patient files and its been a breeze. The only negative, and its usually operator error, is that if a previously stapled stack is not fanned after the staple is removed then the stack can jam in the feeder. However, the feeder in the S510 is easier to clear and clean than any other feeder we've ever had or used!
