Quiet and Efficient

The Bottom Line: Quality control is bad. Once you get a good one, it is quite and efficient.
We have had this machine for about 5 months now. Before we got this machine, we used to go to coin laundry once or twice a week and spent about $3 - $5 each time in cleaning and drying in laundry. We do the math, $5 a week multiply by 52 weeks means we spend $260 a year in laundry. We decided to invested in a washer and dryer that can save us money.
I did some research online and in store. At that time, our local h.h. greg was selling this machine for about $800. We took that price to Sears and asked them to match the price. Sears sales person was very nice to give us the matching price plus 10% off the price differences. We eventually paid about $920 including tax and all the necessary accessories.
The machine was delivered in two weeks. The deliver guys set up the machine and tested it. I noticed that the dryer was very loud in the beginning, but the deliver guy told me it would improve after several uses. Unfortunately, it never improved. I had to call Sears server station and they sent a technician to fit it. The technician spent a hour in my laundry taking the dryer apart but couldn't fix it. He said that he had to order some parts and came back in two weeks. I called Sears again and told them I wanted a new one. The Sears customer service tried to persuade me keeping this one in exchange they would extend my warranty. I said no, I wanted a new one.
So, the replace new machine came in after another two weeks. This time I had trouble with the deliver guy because he could not find my home address. I gave him exact direction but he declared that my home was not there. Ridiculous! So they rescheduled the delivery. Finally I got the machine several days later.
The new machine looked and worked fine, but I noticed that the washer door did not fit exactly well. It was not a big problem, but I did not want it to be a problem when the warranty went out. For that reason, I called Sears service station again. At that time, I was quite frustrated with this machine, but I decided to give it one more chance. The Sears technician came, checked it, ordered the part, and fixed it, took another two weeks.
Finally I got this machine working and once it worked, it worked. The washer was very quiet and efficient, I love it. The dryer was louder than the washer but in a very acceptable level. I used very small amount of detergent and the clothes were as clean as they could be. Best of all, I notice very limited increase in my utility bill. It proves that this machine used very few water and electricity.
Overall speaking, the quality control of Frigidaire needs a totally overhaul. However, once you get a good machine, it works to its claim.
