Author's Review
Oh, yes, I love this dryer! I do.
The Backstory...
I ordered this Frigidaire dryer when my washer of 12 years went kaput, and we'd purchased the dryer at the same time. I'd never had any problems with my previous dryer; however, we'd had front-loader envy of all of our relatives, and thought the time was right to get something more efficient.
Our washer arrived first, and we waited nearly a month to get the dryer. The delivery guys rolled it in and assembled it with no problems, and then cranked it on. Success! Heat, and everything! I grabbed a load of whites and ran them through the washer.
The Mechanics...
This dryer has a great-sized drum. I thought that my older dryer had a large capacity, but WOW. It makes the washer look very small in comparison. It is deep, and I don't feel like I'm overstuffing it. Even the largest loads don't fill up the dryer completely, and still dry well!
It is very easy to use. I wasn't sure if I would like the rotating knob at the top, but it's a breeze to spin it to your setting and press "start."
The lint filter is located in the front right under the dryer's door. It easily slides up for cleaning, and the dryer will also put a light on to let you know that the filter needs to be cleaned out.
Also, it doesn't vibrate, even on a tile floor. When it is in use, it is not loud at all. I used to not be able to watch TV near my old washer and dryer; definitely not the case with this dryer! Happy day! :)
The Settings...
The settings are as follows:
Towels (60 minutes)
Normal (50 minutes)
Permanent Press (40 minutes)
Delicate (20 minutes)
Quick (30 minutes)
Bulky (45 minutes)
Timed Dry (15 to 90 minutes)
The following can also be adjusted:
Temperature - High, Med-High, Medium, Low Heat, No Heat
Dryness - More Dry, Normal, Less Dry, Damp
The options are:
Shrink Guard (on/off)
Press Saver (on/off)
Cycle Signal (on/off)
Generally, I keep the settings on Normal, High temperature, and More Dry. I usually do not have to touch up a load, but sometimes I notice that waistbands on jeans and my husband's shorts will still be slightly damp. I don't put them back in the dryer to re-dry, though; I will drape them over a chair if need be, but that rarely happens.
So, What's the Down Side?
I hate the cycle signal. It's very annoying. I know, it's fairly petty as you can turn it off, but I don't want to turn it off. I want to hear when my clothes are done! It's very loud, and it is one, single annoying BEEP. I wish there were some way to lower the beep's sound or alternate it with something else (short beeps). Oh, well.
Bottom Line...
GREAT machine. Dries well, tons of options!
