Great washer with heat added to sanitize cloth diapers...
Date of Review: Jan 23, 2008
The Bottom Line: Recommend this or successor. Solid unit that does a good job.
Before our daughter was born in April of 2007 I calculated the cost of disposable diaper for a couple of years and the cost of a washing machine and a set of organic one size fits all Mother Ease diapers. The costs cam out about even. I went with the washer. It will be around long enough for my daughter to do the laundry!
We choose the 7000 over the 6000 due to the sanitize or heat added cycle. It takes a while to run this cycle, but does a great job even on the messiest of clothing.
Most cycles are under an our with hand washing in less than half an hour.
We really do use the most delicate of phosphate free liquid laundry detergent (Sun & Earth). With this detergent this washer has done a great job.
The neatest thing that I think that I have noticed about the washer (and matching dryer) is that the amount of lint that I pull out is about 10% of what it was with the top-load washer. I figure that this is the most dramatic indication of how much longer our clothing will last. If less is turned into lint the longer they'll be around.
We have them stacked, they take up so little room! Our second floor laundry room is 6' x 6'. Washer, dryer, laundry sink, cabinets above and beside sink and wire racking are possible due to ability to stack!
BTW, this laundry room is on the other side of a wall near the head of our bed, we hear almost no noise or vibration!
