Author's Review
I reviewed the various dishwashers for the past month on every review site that I could find. One of the somewhat favorable units was the Frigidaire FDB750 series of washers. Right after Christmas, 2004, Sears put them on sale for $228.00 so I brought one to install.
The install instructions are excellent. If you have the basic homeowner fix-up skills, you can install this washer. I was fortunate to have the electrical part completed in my home and it all fell into place with the purchase of a sewer drain for a dishwasher and an air gap required by the local codes.
The only strange part of the install was the method of leveling the unit front to back. It advised to level the interior of the door when fully open. Well I have never leveled anything that could move up and down so I proceeded to level the lower frame members. After the first load of dishes headed very fast, all by themselves, into the washer did I understand that the unit's instructions were correct. After re-leveling, everything stayed in place to finish loading the holding trays.
The unit is very quiet, washes the dishes very well, and seems to use very little water (6 gallons) to get the job done. No signs of leakage or any other malfunctions that I read about for washers that run into the $700 range. The install was a snap with very few actual tools being needed.
I will try to report back in six months or so to give a review if time has taken any toll on the unit. Right now, it's the best $228 I've spent on a home appliance.
