The washer is attractive and comes in white. I find similar black front load washer units more attractive. Not sure if this particular units comes in black but this may be something you wish to inquire about when looking to buy. The washer I use is on a pedestal which brings the washer to chest level. Without the pedestal (about $200 extra cost) the washer unit will operate lower to the ground. If you have bad knees or do not want the hassle of bending down then a pedestal is essential.
The unit is heavy, roughly 200 pounds. Proper installation is very important. You will need a sound laundry area and the washer needs to be level. Without a sound ground area or if the washer is not level then it can cause the area of the house to shake and washer can move across the floor. I have no issue with this. In fact, it is amazing how fast this unit spins and remains stable and in place. I have noticed no movement with the unit BUT it is installed properly (level) and there is a support beam located directly under the washer.
The washer has several features, which I find easy to operate. It takes high efficiency detergent only. I find this type of detergent is comparable in price to the regular detergent. There are 7 factory preset wash cycles
Heavy Duty, Normal, Perm Press, Quick, Delicates, Hand Wash and Spin only. Each cycle can be selected easily with a turn of the cycle selector knob. Each cycle is preset to appropriate time, temperatures, spin speed, soiled level with additional Options & Features (Stain Clean, Extra Rinse, Extended Spin, Signal, and Delay start) factory settings. You are able to manipulate these settings as you please. I recommend keeping the factory settings for time, temp, spin speed etc. These work perfectly for me and fridgidaire set them this way for a reason.
Some additional features include a delayed start up to 14 hours. You can also lock the machine to avoid a accidental start. An estimated cycle time display. Estimated is the key word here. I noticed on other reviews people comment about the time being wrong. Well, if you read the Manuel time can change due to water pressure or load becomes unbalanced. There are also status lights (Door Lock, Wash, Rinse, Final Spin). The door remains locked during the wash cycle. You can start and pause the wash cycle or cancel a cycle.
Overall, I think the washer is attractive, offers excellent easy to use features and cleans cloths very well. I also think the washer is efficient. For me, this washer does a fine job and I would recommend it to myself or a friend. However, I do not think this unit is for everyone. If your laundry room is the on the second or third floor the room must be stable and the unit must be level. Otherwise, the washer could shake part of the house or move. Additionally, if you can not afford the pedestals and have bad knees or do not want to bend down then I would not recommend this washer.
A couple of other minor concerns are water build up. Water can be found where you place your detergent. I was told this is normal. Water and a few soap suds can also be found after the wash around the front rubber ring. You can dry area easily with a paper towel or small towel. I would also recommend leaving the door open to air dry. If you do not follow these steps over time I fear it could cause an odor. Problem is, if you have small kids you wouldnt want to leave the door open.
