Very entertaining and heart-wrenching

My husband and I went to Friday Night Lights mostly because our kids were with the neighbours and had to be picked up by a certain time and that was the only movie that fit into the schedule! I was not disappointed! I am not a football fan so was not sure that I would enjoy it, thought I might be squirming in my eat by the end. Well, it was quite the contrary. I was actually on the edge of my seat for portions of the movie.
While the movie was about high school football, ultimately it was about relationships and the human spirit. I must admit that I didn't know for sure that this was based on a true story while watching the movie and was a little disturbed to find out later that it was. As a parent, I am well aware of the levels of competition that sports can reach and hope that my children never experience the pain that those high school boys did over what, at the end of the day, is just a game.
The actors were all fabulous especially, of course, Billy Bob Thorton. I felt like I got to know the characters and their individual pains and difficulties.
I highly recommend this movie.
