You mean Hitchcock made movies in the 70's? Frenzy (1972)

by   flamepillar , top reviewer in Movies at Epinions.com ,  Jan 5, 2004
Pros: Suspense, atmosphere, great script, and the way it ends with such a ...bang!
Cons: Protagonist has a sometimes nasty attitude. A few improbable happenings.
The Bottom Line: Tell your frenzy oughta see this.
Review: When a man is accused of a crime he didn't commit, it makes for one of the most awe-inspiring (albeit overused) character situations in a movie. Across every genre, it is a plot device that works wonders -- 12 Angry Men, The Dream Team, The ...

Hitchcock's Frenzy -1972

by   artbyjude , top reviewer in Movies at Epinions.com ,  Feb 20, 2002
Pros: Hitchcock humor, directing and story, fine tuning
Cons: The hero is a bit of a cad
The Bottom Line: Before you say it nay, give this film as chance and watch Hitchcock make his final great thriller, with his usual flair.
Review: Frenzy was Hitchcocks's next to the last movie. It never gained a large measure of popularity here in The US for one good reason; the American public did not know any of the "stars"..and stars brought the people to the theater.
The movie was...

Lovely

by   spelvini ,  Jun 4, 2008
Pros: perfect combo of murder, and humor
Cons: too bad the director didn't have a little more time
The Bottom Line: see this one for a perfect example of the auteur completely in control of his tools
Review: With Frenzy from 1972 Alfred Hitchcock is pitch-perfect in realizing his own vision and sharing it with the viewer. There’s a serial killer working the streets in London raping and strangling women with a neck tie, the last of which is discovered ...

Fan of Frenzy!

by   Ynmaeven ,  Mar 3, 2000
Pros: Modern, Suspenseful, Black Comedy
Cons: none
Review: Alfred Hitchcock made this film in 1972 and it was playing in Portland, Maine in July of 1973. I know this because my husband and I went to see it the day after our wedding. Not most people's idea of a honeymoon, but it was all we got. We were used to...

Hitchcock Goes For The Juggular...Literally

by   ecn71270 ,  Sep 22, 2005
Pros: Fine British cast; Hitchcock's macabre humor; droll British dialogue
Cons: The rape/strangulation scene involving Foster and Leigh-Hunt is still quite shocking, even today.
The Bottom Line: A superb final masterpiece from the ultimate director of suspense and the macabre.
Review: It had been a slow nine years for the Master of Suspense, Alfred Hitchcock. After his 1963 horror classic THE BIRDS, Hitchcock made three films--1964's MARNIE; 1966's TORN CURTAIN; and 1969's TOPAZ--that were all considered, to put it gently, below the ...

Neck-Tie Strangler has all of London in a Frenzy

by   knix ,  Aug 14, 2000
Pros: great acting, funny in a few places, suspenseful story
Cons: can't think of one
Review: I wonder if there is any other name in filmdom that gets the same response from an audience as that of Alfred Hitchcock? "The Master of Suspense" we call him, and the title is deserving. I'm not sure there is any other director that has been...

LOVELY disc

by   rbuchanan ,  Jun 18, 2009
Pros: Perfectly remastered audiovisuals; excellent subtitles; good featurette sports rare footage of Hitchcock
Cons: None
The Bottom Line: Belongs in every Hitchcock or horror collection
Review: This review was first posted to Amazon on January 22, 2009: http://www.amazon.com/review/R 14R2S88KPBYXA/ref=cm_cr_rdp_pe rm/I've read a few complaints about the first DVD edition of "Frenzy," most of which were gripes regarding the disc's ...

Remember, Bob's Your Uncle: Frenzy

by   George_Chabot , top reviewer in Movies at Epinions.com ,  Jun 2, 2007
Pros: Story, Direction, Action, Cinematography
Cons: Frenzy should be better known
The Bottom Line: A solid suspense thriller for Hitchcock's many fans, the DVD has a nice featurette on the "making of" Frenzy.
Review: Bob's Your Uncle: Frenzy (1972) After his big projects of the 1950s, Alfred Hitchcock, his name securely made in movies, returned to his native England in triumph after a 20-year hiatus. According to the notes on the DVD, Hitchcock turned down a ...

"I say, that's not my club tie now is it?"

by   st_patrick , top reviewer in Movies at Epinions.com ,  Dec 21, 2002
Pros: Hitchcock's direction, Barry Foster, London setting
Cons: Violence and nudity may not appeal to some
The Bottom Line: Not for the squeamish.
Review: Whenever we think of the body of work produced by Alfred Hitchcock, most of us think of the films he made in the forties, fifties, and early sixties. We tend to think of Hitchcock's work in Hollywood's golden age. It's generally assumed by a lot of...

Frenzy (1972)

by   BrianKoller ,  Mar 18, 2000
Pros: suspense, direction, creepy thrills, comic relief
Cons: dislikable hero, unlikely ending
Review: The career of British director Alfred Hitchcock stretched from the 1920s through the 1970s. He made many great films during these decades, the last of which was Psycho. Subsequent Hitchcock films were less well received. The Birds (1963)...
