Author's Review
In "Freedom's Landing", Anne McCaffrey has once again created an alternate reality so well developed and described that one almost feels at home there.
In this story, a mixed group of peoples must join together to survive and create their own culture. The initial unifying element is that they have all been captured, transported, and dumped on an "uninhabited" planet. As unwilling colonists, they are united in their hatred of the Cattini, the race of aggressive people who have placed them in this predicament.
To make it all the more interesting, one Cattini, Zanial, is among the colonists who are dropped there. Zanial must fight not only the environment, but the hatred of the others toward the Cattini.
Kristen Bjornsen, an adventurous human slave, who had escaped her master but then had a run-in with Zanial, is also one of the colonists.
Once past dealing with basic survival, the colonists then find themselves dealing with both the Cattini and another alien race that makes its presence known on their planet.
The development of relationships, the colorful characters, and the fast paced action all combine to make this a delightful story which leaves a reader saying, "More! What happened next?"
