Author's Review
I purchased a slightly used (19,000 miles) 2006 Ford 500 Limited in August 2006, which made it a very affordable car and came with a remaining warranty. My 2003 Taurus was a great car and the fourth Taurus I had owned; but, we never really bonded. This silver 500 caught my eye as I drove by our local Ford dealer that summer and suddenly I found myself taking a closer look. The test drive left me addicted to the luxury feel and quiet drive from a powerful engine. The trunk has plenty of room to meet all my needs from shopping at Costco to traveling with friends and lots of luggage. There is plenty of power to handle the local 6,000 foot plus mountain passes and the weight of the car has proved helpful in holding the road during this winter's weather. The driver's seat is very comfortable although the way the leather upholstery is done seems a little cheap compared to the rest of the car. Maybe it is just the black color. The message center provides useful information on car performance including miles per gallon, fuel used, direction, diagnostic test of systems, etc. Overall, this is the nicest Ford I have owned. Higher miles per gallon would be nice; but, in the two years I have now owned the car, it has improved. I average 26 mpg -combined city/highway. On the interstate at 70 mph, I have seen 29 mpg. The Ford 500 is a nice replacement for the Taurus and will hopefully be around for a while. While buying this car new would be a stretch for me, now that I am retired, going for a lightly used one brought it down to an affordable level and it still looks like the $27,000 original price.
