Ultimate Bitterness

by   Trawma ,  Sep 21, 2006
Pros: Great performance, plenty of space.
Cons: A little blocky looking.
The Bottom Line: By all means, look into this car if you're in the market--the safety rating alone makes it worth consideration.
Review: Just got back from a ten day vacation in Southern California. Rather than fly, we chose to drive. Due to the deep and abiding distrust we have for our Buick Century, we chose to rent from Hertz, expecting the ubiquitous White Ford Taurus (a decent car, ...

30 Months later

by   jdmalibu ,  Aug 1, 2008
Pros: By far Best in class
Cons: Tire cost, no snow tires, poor residual
The Bottom Line: This is the safest, largest, AWD fullsize car available..still. Resale is a steal. Nice job Ford. Go get it.
Review: Lets start by saying that at the time this car was on the market I felt it was the best overall value. I shopped the big 5 auto manufacturers and the Ford 500 blew away all other choices in my comparison. I compared it to Camry, Accord, 300, ...

Wonderful, Reliable, Its time to reconsider Ford!

by   suzyq72 ,  Jun 22, 2006
Pros: Reliable, great gas mileage, sporty, safe
Cons: Had one recall, though it was minor and easy to get fixed.
Review: When I went to the Ford Dealer I planned on buying a Taurus b/c we had rented one and it was great, I got there and found out they were no longer making them but had we considered a 500. Well we hadn't but I test drove and it was so nice. Well its been ...

My first Ford!

by   squibby1 ,  Jul 23, 2006
Pros: Gas mileage; comfort; seating position; ease of getting in and out
Cons: Acceleration
Review: Up till now I've only driven GM cars. After looking at almost every vehicle on the planet I saw the Five Hundred in a dealer showroom. I always first rule out a vehicle on how the driver position feels. The Five Hundred is a breeze to get in and out. The ...

Excellent Car and Excellent Value

by   akahodag ,  May 6, 2007
Pros: AWD, comfy interior, great audio, reliable
Cons: Exterior look
Review: I have had my Ford 500 for 12 months and 32,000 miles. It has proved to be a very good car. I drive nearly 100 miles/day in a 4 season climate. The AWD version performed better than my former SUV in the snow. The interior is very comfortable. The ...

Terrific Full Size Value

by   tiktok4321 ,  Nov 28, 2005
Pros: Transmission, wheels, and exterior styling are top notch.
Cons: Irritating Flasher Noise, poor workmanship and blocky design of interior.
The Bottom Line: I definitely would recommend this car to families with three or fewer young children as an alternative to a minivan.
Review: In the continuing saga to replace my 2002 Saturn which was totaled in a recent accident, I had the opportunity to rent a 2006 Ford Five Hundred. My first car was a 1975 Ford Elite that I bought 15 years ago and held onto for a full year. A lot has ...

I'll Keep This One

by   montananative ,  Jan 28, 2007
Pros: Quiet, comfortable ride, plenty of power, great room for passengers and in trunk.
Cons: Lower mileage than hoped for (avg. 26)
The Bottom Line: Buy new if you can afford it or buy with low mileage at a much lower price. The features, safety and comfort make driving a pleasure.
Review: I purchased a slightly used (19,000 miles) 2006 Ford 500 Limited in August 2006, which made it a very affordable car and came with a remaining warranty. My 2003 Taurus was a great car and the fourth Taurus I had owned; but, we never really bonded. This ...

what a great car nice and roomy

by   twologa ,  Oct 14, 2006
Pros: smooth ride, nice transmission, good fuel economy
Cons: boxy shaped body
Review: if you want affordable luxury and plenty of leg room this is the way to go. i have never been in a car this spacious without it being a mini van. The acceleration is great, it has a new transmission in it so there is no shift points so the ride is even ...

Not exactly a category killer

by   midtownadrock ,  Dec 21, 2006
Pros: Like the Command Seating. Very spacious cabin and trunk. Good handling.
Cons: Interior needs to be sexified, or at the very least more inspiring.
The Bottom Line: Perfectly adequate in a category with better-than-adequate cars.
Review: I was given this car by my company three months ago. I've put 6k miles on it. I've taken it through the twisties on Highway 1, through the snow to Tahoe, and done some straight line cruising to LA on I-5. All in all, this is a perfectly adequate car, but ...

Ford Fivehundred: Too Many Reliability Issues

by   pauls99 ,  Dec 31, 2006
Pros: Roomy and good gas mileage
Cons: Poor Reliability
Review: I bought my Fivehundred in summer this year. I had wanted on for a long time. I have had nothing but problems with it. It shakes while stopping at high speeds. I have had it in shop three (or four) times to fix. Still not fixed; I have given up. ...
