My second Escape

by   boogiedog ,  Dec 6, 2005
Pros: Styling, handling, beauty, practicality, feels right, fuel mileage.
Cons: No place to put garage door opener. Get some velcro.
The Bottom Line: I love this thing of beauty, function and design. The future is here!
Review: Previously I owned a 2003 Escape that I bought new in 2003. As the warranty was shortly to end I decided to look around see what was available. I'm pretty much a confirmed Ford customer having bought about a dozen new ones and virtually all have been ...

Escape Hybrid - Great mileage in a SUV body

by   rutkowk ,  Oct 12, 2005
Pros: Great mileage, especially for a 4 wheel drive SUV.
Cons: The driver may have to adjust driving habits to get the best mileage.
The Bottom Line: This is a great car if you want the utility of a 4WD SUV without needing to drag a fuel tanker behind you.
Review: I bought a 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid 2 months ago. The main reason that I purchased it was to support the only US manufacturer of hybrid vehicles. I also recently bought a home, and I thought it would be nice to have an SUV that gets good mileage. ...

Love the hybrid/SUV combination!

by   momta6 ,  Mar 29, 2006
Pros: Great gas mileage, stylish SUV, compact, tax breaks for hybrids
Cons: A bit pricey, tight legroom, Hybrid has "different" feel
The Bottom Line: If you love SUVs, this is the car for you. The gas mileage is great and I enjoy a compact car that's easy to maneuver and looks great, too.
Review: Ford has done a great job incorporating the hybrid technology and the SUV styling. I bought my 2006 Escape last August because we needed to scale down our full-sized van for something more economical. I thoroughly love my Escape! The Hybrid ...

Great SUV for the money

by   dave_7248 ,  Mar 19, 2006
Pros: Responsive handling, sporty look and feel, good price-point
Cons: No heated seats available on XLT
The Bottom Line: Responsive, sporty and good price point
Review: Responsive handling, manageable size, and sporty look have been very satisfying. After researching and test driving at least 12 vehicles (RAV4, Forester, Infinity FX, Suzuki Grand Vitara, Jeep Liberty, etc.) over the course of a year, I finally ...

Ford Escape Limited 2006

by   jeffreyncherry ,  Mar 29, 2007
Pros: Nice drive and good mileage
Cons: No DVD option and needs more seating
Review: I absolutely love my Ford escape. It handles curbs very well and drives nicely. I have the ebony leather seats and they are very comfortable. The gas milage isn't all that great due to driving hilly roads, but it is not bad compared to other SUVs. It ...

Escape Hybrid-New owner

by   jdw334 ,  Feb 9, 2006
Pros: Pros: six disc cd player, high seating of drivers seat, gas mileage.
Cons: I can not think of any cons. Again driving in the cold hurts gas mileage.
Review: I just purchased my Escape Hybrid having it for about a week. I love it so far. I couldn't imagine loving a car so much. It runs great. Is very comfortable and the gas mileage has been great so far. I do have to say in the cold weather of New ...

Best SUV in its class

by   misspiggy57 ,  Mar 27, 2007
Pros: Astronomical gas mileage, easy to enter and exit, reliable.
Cons: Standard styled-steel wheels are a little plain
Review: We bought this 2006 Escape new in March, 2006 because our 2005 Escape was so good. For a year, my wife and I fought over who would drive it, so we decided to buy another. The only difference is the 2006 has a 5-speed manual transmission. ...

I love my Escape

by   nora_az ,  Jun 14, 2007
Pros: Fun to drive, roomy, stylish
Cons: Can't have 2 large drinks sitting in the front cup holders at the same time.
Review: I bought my 2006 Ford Escape XLS brand new. It now has 14K on the odometer. So far the only thing I have had to do is oil changes. Nothing has gone wrong with the SUV though I must admit if anything had at this point I'd be a bit disappointed. It's ...

First domestic hybrid

by   mkaresh , top reviewer in Cars & Motorsports at Epinions.com ,  Oct 8, 2005
Pros: Seamless operation, economy, nimble handling, interior room
Cons: Price; styling too normal?
The Bottom Line: An excellent first effort by Ford. But like other hybrids the price cannot be economically justified.
Review: The current gas prices have even an enthusiast such as myself thinking about hybrids. And especially about hybrid SUVs, as I moved to a new neighborhood earlier in the year where the streets are not plowed promptly. So I test drove two hybrid SUVs, the ...
