2003 F250 XLT Crew Cab 4x4 5.4 Automatic
Pros:
comfortable ride, tons of room, plenty of power, reliable
Cons:
Ford front end components wear quickly, poor turning radius, LARGE VEHICLE
The Bottom Line:
This is a great truck. I'm not a "ford" guy, but I'll more than likely buy another F-series superduty when I replace this truck.

'03 F250 XLT Crew Cab (4 door) 4x4, 5.4 liter V8, automatic, 8 foot bed.
We bought our F250 used in 2006. Its been a great truck and hasn't had any major issues. We regularly use it to pull a 3 horse bumper pull trailer. While the 5.4 liter engine won't when any races pulling 7,000 lbs, it has more than enough power to handle our trailer loaded with 2 horses and gear.
We also use our truck when picking up various supplies for light farm work. I've had 2400 lbs in the back of the bed and it hardly dropped the back end (not even close to the bump-stops on the suspension).
Other positives -
tons of space, can easily fit 6 large adults in the truck, with room to spare.
My only complaints are the turning radius, which is very poor, even for a vehicle this size. Additionally, I had to replace ball joints and tie rod ends at 90k miles. The ball joints did not have grease fittings, which I believe led to the failure. I found a front end shop that easily replaced the upper and lower ball joints (with grease fittings) for a reasonable price ($250 per side).
Gas mileage isn't great, which you can expect for a vehicle that weighs around 7000 lbs. We get an average of 11-12 city / 13-14 highway. When towing our horse trailer we average 9-10 mpg during mainly highway driving.
