2002 Ford Thunderbird - A Lollipop on Wheels!

by   kerncourt ,  Jan 4, 2002
Pros: Sweet!! Looks like candy. Drives like a dream. Very smooth all around character.
Cons: My wife says its her car. Limited headroom for taller individuals.
The Bottom Line: If you are fortunate enough to find one at a dealer, you owe it to yourself to beg for a test drive. If you don't buy it, someone quickly will.
Review: My wife has had a penchant for a convertible for a long time. So to quiet her down one day, I decided to take her to look at - not buy - a Mercedes SL500.

After eyeing a few SL's on the Benz lot, I drove to the Ford dealer to look at an F150...

Prepare to be ogled

by   markcal ,  Jun 10, 2002
Pros: Great looking car! Holds it's value. Convertible ambiance, hardtop comfort.
Cons: Hard top removal requires 2 people. Rubbernecks and tailgaters make life miserable.
The Bottom Line: Buy it not because you need it, but because you can. By the way, you can't take it with you so enjoy it right here and right now.
Review: A true student of T-Bird history understands that this car while originally released to compete with Chevy's Corvette in the marketplace, was never intended to compete with the Corvette on the race track. The end result is an upscale sports car, that...

The New T-Bird

by   spdster2002 ,  Aug 22, 2002
Pros: retro styling, image, attracts attention wherever it goes, good passing power
Cons: rather heavy, shares too many parts w/Lincoln LS, headroom for taller folks, gas mileage
The Bottom Line: The new Ford Thunderbird is definitely an icon you WILL want in your garage. As a low-volume, high-priced roadster, it is better off used as a second car.
Review: After a 5-year "break" Ford finally restores its new Thunderbird. The Thunderbird has gone through many changes over the years. Now, Ford has decided to bring back the T-Bird with the same "essence" as the original.

EXTERIOR:...

The Ultimate Cruiser

by   BrianCam , top reviewer in Cars & Motorsports at Epinions.com ,  Mar 18, 2002
Pros: Great Looking, Lots of Attention, Nice V8
Cons: High Demand/Price, Flimsy Boot
The Bottom Line: People love this car. It's great looking and fun to drive, dealer prices in excess of $50K dull the T-Bird's image. Who wouldn't want one of these?
Review: Ford Thunderbird; the name alone says so much. American automakers and especially Ford have always seemed to name their cars based more on emotion than facts or market research. Just think of it, U.S. cars have long used names that evoke certain...

Don't Kiss Your Car in Public (Updated June 2005)

by   sockeyesam ,  May 13, 2002
Pros: Throaty V-8 sounds as good as it drives. Beautiful design detail.
Cons: Major electrical failure at 7,800 miles. Ford not standing behind the product.
The Bottom Line: Everyone should own a car like this once in their lives.
Review: Update written June 2005 (three years after purchase) I'm up to 7,800 miles on the vehicle now. Over all, the car has been a great value. The motor has gotten slightly more throaty sounding, in a good way, and seems to have found a few more horsepower ...

Drives like a Ford Expedition!!!

by   saxman8000 ,  Apr 23, 2004
Pros: Great exterior design. Body hugging seats.
Cons: Slow acceleration. Awful transmission. Endless creaks & rattles. Tiny trunk.
The Bottom Line: If you care only about looking great and nothing about performance or build-quality, this car is for you.
Review: I drove the T-bird convertible for four days as a rental. Its design is very cute, and its exterior finish was high quality. Driving it out of the rental car lot was an ordeal, as it wouldn't fit two modest sized suitcases in the shallow trunk. One ...

Overpriced Bird.

by   chris_baehr ,  Feb 2, 2002
Pros: Nothing really.
Cons: It's way overpriced. It's underpowered.
The Bottom Line: Overpriced. The Thunderbird died after the 50's. It has never really been alive since except for the SuperCoupe.
Review: Ford has once again tried to bring back the Thunderbird. But let's face it: The car that has carried the Thunderbird name for half a century has really been about five or six distinctly different cars. Other than the name, these cars have nothing in...

The newness is gone

by   Ran ,  May 2, 2003
Pros: The top is power and the radio is ok
Cons: Expensive for car ended up with
The Bottom Line: Look around real hard before deciding on this one
Review: Well its been a while since got a thread reply from epinion
so will post what its been like with this car in over a
year.

I too am very disappointed in what the car has to offer
feature wise verus the MSRP price paid (over...

Big mistake

by   lanh ,  May 1, 2003
Pros: This is hard, only thing can think its easy to recognize
Cons: Expensive, few features, uncomfortable driving. Inconvenient hardtop, noisy. Cheap looking interior appointments
The Bottom Line: Its not a sole car for someone. you need another practical car to have with this vehicle. No place to put anything from as simple as going to the store
Review: Price is very high per features offered when you
look at other cars. Seat have little adjustment
range, no central computer telling of cars functions,
no lighted mirrors, no dimming mirrors, No memory for
seat and other settings, no...
