F150 SuperCrew 4x2 King Ranch Series
Date of Review: Mar 3, 2005
The Bottom Line: I highly recommend this truck and it is reasonably priced.
I purchased the King Ranch in 2002. I got an excellent deal and went with Ford because of prior experience with F150's. My wife loved the leather interior and moonroof, whereas I was just looking at the 5.4 V8 Triton engine and towing capabilities. I knew we needed something to haul mulch as well as hauling the family around. I previously had a SuperCab and as the kids grew, they outgrew the backseat. I opted for the 4 x 2 because we wouldn't really use the 4 x 4 through snow or mud or anything like that.
The first accessories I bought were the K&N filter and the spray on bed liner which I recommend to anyone purchasing an F150.
The truck has excellent performance, and is very stylish inside and out. The gas mileage is not too bad considering it is a truck, i've gotten worse gas mileage from the Explorer Sport Trac. Road noise is minimal. The heated front seats are ideal in cold weather. The backseat is very roomy, 3 teenagers fit comfortably. I opted for the bed extender as well, which has come in handy on occasion.
Although, the Cd changer is slightly awkward to get to, since you must lift the tray from the center console to get to it. The other downfall is the rear sliding window. Ford should've offered a power limo window like they have in the Sport Tracs. I have found that the seats are fading a little from the sun and they are a little tough to get any kind of stains out of.
Since my purchase the only major (if you want to call it that) work done was change out of a broken shock which was covered under warranty.
