Author's Review
I am a Remodeling Contractor, I work hard and I expect my trucks to work hard. This is the best truck I have owned except for a 1992 Toyota pickup which was stolen with 129,000 miles on it and the only thing I had repaired was the clutch. I didn't intend to get the extended van but in August of 1998 I found this new 1997 E-250 when the 1999's were just coming out. I was able to buy it for $17,800. It has been very reliable with the following repairs: rear-end bearings replaced at 70,000 miles, repair bill of $700; EGR vacuum solenoid at 123,000 miles, repair bill $150; oxygen sensor and DPFE sensor at 179,000 miles, repair bill of $650. This truck will eat up front tires if you don't rotate regularly every 5,000 miles. I only get about 20,000 miles out of a set of front disc brake pads. It now has 184,000 miles and the air conditioning works but isn't very cold. Else it runs very well. It has a 5.4L V-8, 3-speed automatic with overdrive. I get 12 MPG and it doesn't matter if I'm towing my 22 foot Bayliner open bow boat or not. It has been a very good truck. I don't know what I'll replace it with.
