Mechanically solid little truck

Date of Review:  Oct 3, 2003

great 1st vehicle

Date of Review:  Mar 16, 2003
The Bottom Line: it's a great first vehicle for teenagers (like myself). it's also great around the farm (I've gotten about 5 loads of hay with my truck).
Review: when I turned 16 my mom bought a 1986 ford ranger super cab (4 wheel drive, automatic) off of a guy she worked with for $1,000. turns out when we got it, it needed new break lining (but that didn't shock us, we did only pay $1,000 for it!). since I...

Review: I have had my truck for 4 years and have changed the oil twice.I had to have it tested for emission control and it went through like a brand new truck. The operator couldn't believe it.It is a little rusted in spots on the box but is basically just...

No-nonsense transportation

Date of Review:  May 30, 2002
The Bottom Line: With any pickup this old, it's a crap shoot. If your budget puts you in this field, stack the cards in your favor by considering a Ranger.
Review: I bought my Ranger used back in 1998, with 162,000 on the clock. It had the 2.3L 4-cylinder engine and 5-speed transmission. The engine was a bit low on horsepower, but had a lot of torque down low, so it was great for hauling heavy loads.
