Forbes is not for everybody

Date of Review: Oct 26, 1999

Forbes magazine has always been a top contender in the business class world. It's one of those magazines that cover a vast quantity of information packed between it's pages. Although it's not for everybody -- or every business reader.

I religiously read Forbes for about 2 years, until I began reading Fortune. And to be honest, I dropped Forbes in favor of Fortune -- because Fortune was more aimed at what I was interested in -- technology: in regards to businesses, the movers and shakers, stocks, people, internet, etc. Not to mention it covered a great deal of other areas.

Don't get me wrong, Forbes serves it's purpose quite well. But now I think of it as a more business economist/information magazine with all their articles on global and social business impacts. Maybe I'm just too young to appreciate it, but I find most of the articles in Forbes dry (at least in comparison to Fortune).

One thing that Forbes does hit very well is market information -- stocks, bonds, etc. They do cover that very in-depth, and is a must read for any person interested in investing and the such. It definitely keeps you current with the insides of companies.

I still read Forbes now and again when I have the chance -- it is a good magazine for business users. But for the most part, I read Fortune when I want to read an excellent general business magazine.
