Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey show good chemistry in this romantic comedy/treasure hunt excursion. Any thinness of the script is made up by Kate's Goldie-like grin and there is plenty of screen time for McConaughey to show off his sculpted torso. Not a bad thing. Light hearted and with a few truly funny moments add up to an enjoyable view. The winner here is McConaughey walking along underwater. Funny.
In a nutshell, Kate and Matthew's characters are newly divorced treasure hunters who finally find clues to their long sought treasure. There is the predictable bantering often seen on screen between ex's who really do love each other. Instead of coming across hackneyed, it works with these two.
The supporting cast is great, and included Donald Sutherland as a wealthy yacht owner who ends up helping our couple and becomes involved in their lives. Also well done in the supporting roles are the spoiled and ditzy daughter of the Sutherland character, a couple of gay and lovable chefs, a rival treasure hunter, a Ukrainian side kick, and the odd mafia-like character BiggBunny who is out to kill McConaughey's character with two goofy assistants.
Well paced, predictable but enjoyable, no Oscars here, but certainly worth a watch.
