Product Review

Let the buyer beware

by   hschraer ,   Sep 21, 2006

Pros:  Does what it should but not all features are in the next product up (NetTool).

Cons:  Fluke's customer service on discontinued products is abysmal! We won't buy Fluke again.

Overall Rating: 4/5 stars

Author's Review

Great little product. I'm including information about Fluke too since customer service is often as important as the product itself.

Unfortunately, we were looking at the NetTool device and for the $1400 didn't have some of the features built into the LinkRunner. We ended up buying both.

It is small and effective and includes features not found in the $1400 NetTool. Example: To add the included ping feature to the NetTool is another $500.

A software package LAN MapTool they no longer make can't be installed because they won't provide the key code needed. The are suggesting that I go to the vendor for it. The vendor hit a brick wall with Fluke.

Fluke may have been the Cadillac of testers in years past, but their customer service is as bad as the reliability records of and old Cadillac.

I'll only buy competitors products in the future.
