My father bought this swing for me when my daughter was about a month old. I had seen it and had to have it just because I really loved the ocean theme and the fact that the swing could go two different directions. Well I eneded up loving this swing and hope to keep it for my future children.
First of all, this swing has two different swing settings, the traditional forward and backward motion and the side to side cradle motion. We preferred the cradle motion just because that seemed to please my daughter the most. My daughter was colicky until she was 3 and 1/2 months old and using the cradle motion on the swing could usually give my arms a short rest, which was definately a treat.
It also has different sound settings. You can choose the music setting, where it randomly plays different songs or you can just choose relaxing sounds, like ocean waves and such. Or you can just turn off the sound if you prefer that. Ok, so first of all, I want to warn that though I thought the music was nice, it is not your traditional nursery music. The songs sound electronic and I don;t think there were many familair tunes. I didn't mind it, I actually liked the music but my mom hated it. That was her biggest complaint about the swing. The problem I had with the sounds option was that the sounds were very soft and kind of drowned out by the sound of the swing moving. So I just usually left it on the music setting.
The swing also has an attached mobile with little plush fish. This was probably my daughter's favorite part of the swing. She loved just watching the fish. And it was especially nice because you can decide if you want the mobile light on or off. If you turn the swing on at night with the mobile light on, it makes for a very relaxing time for your baby.
I have heard complaints in the past about this using a ton of battery power, but I honestly did not have that problem. You just have to get a really high quailty pack of batteries, like duracell or energizer, and they will last you a long time. I think I may have changed the batteries ince the whole time we used it, which was until she about a year old.
This swing was great for us. I think this was money well-spent.
